The Guth ancestors I have, came here from Strasbourg, (Strosburg, according to the records) in the 1850's. They settled in NYC and lived at 117 Willett Street. My great grandfather, George W. Guth, was born in 1862. They were part of The First German Church of Rivington St. in NYC.
I did a little research last night and found this family lived in Orange, NJ, according to a copy of a census record taken. I need to find the street they lived on. They had three children, Amelia (Wallace), Maria Louise, and George.
It says that George was married to Catherine, and his occupation was that of 'retailed grocer'. Also, his parents were born in Germany.
